Old City Quarter, Nanaimo

Updated: Apr 8, 2019

Old City Quarter

Some people will tell you that North Nanaimo is the ONLY place to buy a home. That couldn't be further from the truth!! Not only is the Old City Quarter alive and well, it is a vibrant and THRIVING gem, one is is sought out for being one of the few truly walking neighbourhoods in Nananimo. The area is a charming mix of re-vitalized heritage homes and buildings. It is perfect for those who desire to live nestled near a collection of eclectic specialty shops and services, boutiques, and a diverse selection of cafes and restaurants, all near the heart of the city!

While this is a high density area, there are still plenty of parks and green space around. Nob Hill Park has interesting rock formations, and Robin's Park hosts numerous baseball games through out the year.

And the views!!! Old City quarter homes have some of the best ocean and mountain views, for a fraction of what it would cost in other neighbourhoods. Many of the street boulevards are planted with a colourful array of flowers, proving city center dwelling does not have to be devoid of nature.

Some of the AMAZING restaurants within walking distance include Asteria's, a delightful Greek taverna, funky Delicados has great south western flare, Coach & Horses, and Milton Street Pub, with some of the best pub food in town, Bistro Taiyo for amazing sushi, and New York Style Pizza for more than just pizza!

Prefer to eat at home? McLean's Specialty Foods has everything from haggis to curried lamb sausage to 150 cheeses! The artisan A Wee Cupcakery Bake Shop offers an aspiring array of specialty baked goods. Love to cook? Superette Foods Nanaimo is just down the street . . . the best corner grocer on the island!

Into fashion? Damsels Fashion is all about the ladies, Gates & Gifts caters to your wrought iron relish, and Hartmann & Co. is for those with an antique obsession.
